Why Your Social Media Isn’t Working (And What to Do Instead)

Let’s rip the band-aid off:

If you’ve been posting consistently and still not seeing traction… it’s not the algorithm.

It’s the strategy. Or more likely the lack of one.

Because while it’s easy to blame Meta, TikTok, or engagement rates for your plateau, the real issue is that most brands (91% of them, to be exact) don’t actually know if their social content is working.

They’re spinning content out, chasing trends, burning out their teams, and crossing their fingers that this next post will finally “go viral.”

Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

You’re just unstrategic. For now.

We can totally fix that.

The Real Problem: You’re Posting Without Purpose

Most brands are stuck in what I call “Content Survival Mode.”

  • No clarity on what role social plays in the business

  • No system to guide what gets posted and why

  • No metrics to measure what’s working beyond vanity likes

If you’re relying on vibes instead of a real framework, of course you’re exhausted. And of course your audience is confused.

We’ve been sold a lie:

“Just show up and post consistently and your brand will grow.”

Spoiler: that might’ve worked in 2017. In 2025? Not even close.

So What Does Work?

The truth: Posting more won’t save you.

Posting strategically will.

That means:

  • Aligning content to your business goals

  • Understanding what kind of content builds trust, what sells, and what keeps people coming back

  • Measuring performance with intention (and without 10 different dashboards)

You need a system that makes content work for you not just keep you busy.

The Fix: The Funnel System + Content Funnel That Actually Works

At my agency, we stopped doing one-off content calendars some time ago.

Instead, we use a funnel system—a strategic, sustainable, and scalable approach to content that helps you build a Content ATM (aka a system that pays you back in attention, trust, and sales).

Here's the foundation:

1. Strategy

Define who you’re talking to, what you’re saying, and why it matters to your customer and your business.

2. Tactical Plan (The Funnel)

Map your content to a 3-part framework:

  • Top of funnel (TOFU): Demand Generation – Get attention (fun, educational, relatable content)

  • Middle of funnel (MOFU): Demand Conversion – Sell (clear CTA, promos, lead magnets)

  • Bottom of funnel (BOFU): Demand Retention – Keep ‘em loyal (community, values, story, culture)

Different content has different jobs. Most brands confuse attention for conversion and that’s where the whole thing breaks.

3. Measurement

Track real results: audience growth, engagement, traffic to site, conversions. These are THE KEY METRICS to track.

This doesn’t need a $5K tool. A spreadsheet and some consistency will do more than guessing ever will.

Ask Yourself These 3 Questions Before You Post Again:

  1. What’s the business goal this content supports?

  2. Where does it fall in my funnel—TOFU, MOFU, BOFU?

  3. How will I know if it worked? (What’s the metric I’m watching?)

With answering these questions your content strategy becomes more focused and has a purpose.

Final Takeaway

The algorithm isn’t broken.

Your creativity isn’t the problem.

Social media isn’t dead.

But your strategy? Might need a hard reset.

So stop guessing. Start building.

And make every post move your business forward.
